Here are some examples of how your contribution can help us make a difference:
$ 10 – one day supply of coffee for Kalparrin Visitor Lounge at PMH. It is here that a family can relax and unwind between their out-patient appointments; a quiet and peaceful resort for a parent or carer of a child treated at PMH.
$ 25 – a face-to-face meeting with a parent during a hospital ward visit by Kalparrin Family Support Officer. Families are offered practical and emotional support, information on services available to them from a number of agencies and service providers, etc.
$ 50 – a Parent Link connection for a parent of a child with rare condition. This involves initial phone consultation, database and resources research, liaising with the other family, and putting the two families in contact so that they can share their knowledge and experience as well as thoughts and emotions.
$ 350 – two parents of a child with special needs are able to attend a day program for couples. These programs offer practical strategies and skills for coping with stress and staying connected in a relationship while overcoming the challenges of raising a child with special needs. The feedback we receive after these programs proves that they help to keep families together.
